When sustainability is not just a slogan: BD Plast plants its corporate forest in collaboration with Treedom
Sustainability is a concrete industrial strategy for BD Plast, not a slogan. Since July 2025, it has in fact created its own corporate forest thanks to a partnership with Treedom, a global platform for forest regeneration through the direct funding of agroforestry projects. Founded in 2010 with the aim of “changing the world, one tree at a time,” it now counts a large community of “pragmatic dreamers”: over one million individuals and 13,000 companies that have embraced its mission.
The project carried out by Treedom translates into concrete environmental, social, and economic benefits in line with sustainability principles and the goals of the 2030 Agenda. The platform makes a significant contribution to 10 of the 17 sustainability goals established by the United Nations, specifically:
- End poverty
- Zero hunger
- Quality education
- Gender equality
- Decent work and economic growth
- Responsible consumption and production
- Climate action
- Life on land
- Reduced inequalities
- Partnerships for the goals
With the planting of the first 400 trees in Tanzania in 2025, carried out in collaboration with Treedom, BD Plast has launched a concrete path to offset its residual emissions. The initiative will continue in 2026 and 2027 with additional plantings, reaching a total of 1,000 trees, thereby strengthening the company’s contribution to European climate goals and confirming its commitment in line with ESG principles. In this way, BD Plast positions itself as a virtuous example within the Italian SME landscape.
The forest is only the latest in a series of initiatives in this direction: for example, the Bondeno plant is powered by 800 photovoltaic panels, capable of producing 240 MWh per year and reducing CO₂ emissions by about 160 tons annually.
BD Plast is tangible proof that an SME can compete in international markets, innovate in both product and process, and act responsibly toward the environment while maintaining an agile, family-run structure.
